The first book by Dmitri Markov, a Russian photographer and social worker who opened an Instagram account purely as an experiment, with no photographic ambition. Everything changed after he joined the Burn Diary project, photographing everyday life in Pskov on a mobile phone: the account that resulted, @dcim.ru, settled into a clear register of small-town vignettes and social subjects, its protagonists ordinary people from Russia's provinces. In 2015 Markov received a grant from Getty Images and Instagram for documentary photographers, and in 2016 became the first Russian participant in Apple's "Shot on iPhone" campaign.
