Vladimir Sokolaev (1952-2016) was a Russian photographer, videographer and documentarian, a founding member of the TRIVA photography group and an honorary member of the Union of Photo Artists of Russia. The book is in two parts: the first gathers 169 black-and-white photographs identified only by their titles, which are coordinates; the second is the photographer's own voice, a detailed account of his path and of TRIVA, the first professional photographers' association in the USSR, together with reflections on photography and on the times in which the pictures were taken. Some images appear here for the first time, and new scanning has drawn out detail that was not visible even in the photographer's own vintage prints.
