275 pesetas revisits the beginnings of Esther Perez in photography in late 1980s Madrid. While studying at university she earned money by making portrait pictures of students alongside other young photographers. The images were developed in her own laboratory and handed over as identity-card portraits, used by teachers on the record cards of each course. The work digs into that personal archive, which turns out to mirror the social and political context of the period.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
