Norte is the third part of David Hornillos' photographic trilogy on the railway stations of Madrid, after Mediodia, made at Atocha, and Ustedes, los vivos, made at Chamartin. This instalment centres on the Principe Pio station, formerly the northern terminus, and keeps the approach of working within a delimited space and repeating certain visual elements. With a brutalist aesthetic and an emphasis on verticality, represented by crutches, metal structures and asphalt, the work reflects on balance and survival.
