The photographer's first project documents children and families living under a freeway overpass in New Delhi. Remarkably, the images avoid the usual traps of photojournalism when depicting subjects like these -- no sad faces, begging hands, or juxtaposing of rich and poor to elicit sympathy. Even though their situation is clearly desperate, the pictures capture the energy and spirit of these kids and the wrongness of their predicament through often surreal scenarios.
