Cresci experiments with the coexistence of writing and image in a volume that gathers eighty drawings — as many as his years — made from pictures he took between the nineteen-sixties and today. If the scaraboti produced by Canaletto in the eighteenth century were for that painter the perspectival matrices that served his paintings, here the process is reversed: the frames are transferred into marks and drawings suggested by the prints. From there comes the interplay with a writing that is itself evocative rather than descriptive, and that takes on the main biographical and critical turning points of his activity. A QR code at the end allows the reader to see, or not to see, the photographs from which the drawings were drawn.
