A mastery of colour and an ability to frame a narrative are on full display: the arcades open to the viewer like a tightly woven short film, almost noir. There is a feeling of criminality within the pictures, as if you had found your way into a speakeasy where acts are taking place, hidden and fringe, celebrated by the lucky few able to give the password to the doorman — and in the midst of it all are the machines themselves, grouped together in colonies of light.
