Bi-Monthly series, publishing the work of emerging photographers

Twenty years ago the author began travelling across France, avoiding major roads and soulless suburban sprawl — garish signs, prefab buildings, uniform housing estates, endless roundabouts. Instead he sought out the last remaining small shops: abandoned, silent witnesses of forgotten trades and fashions. These empty storefronts, deserted and weathered by time, became the outlines of a ghost town standing in quiet resistance to distant shopping centres, with shutters drawn, doors sealed and windows bricked up.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
