The work of an artist who was Bodybuilding Champion of France in 1997: pictures and video that reflect on his career as a professional bodybuilder and on the notion of the body in contemporary society, in an uncensored art that merges with his life. Here and there the bodybuilder’s bulky trainers seem to anchor him to the ground, hindering his flight, while metal pins fix his muscular body inside a suddenly claustrophobic box. The butterfly wings on his shoulders bear sinister names far from poetic, Hydergine, Dynabolon, Lévothyrox, Clérégil, Kinoselem, Trophobolène: reminders that the most aggressive, harmful drugs run through the bodybuilder’s veins, and are least likely to give him the graceful flight of even the humblest butterfly.
