Berengo Gardin’s pictures of the work of the sculptor Adolf Vallazza, his friend and collaborator since the 1970s: an artist whose career began in craft workshops and reached contemporary art. While absorbing the most stimulating lessons of international contemporary art, Vallazza has always kept the most authentic cultural values of his roots in the mountains of Val Gardena. In his works, great totems, fantastic figures, menhirs and mythical thrones, one feels the ancestral importance of the vital bond between man and wood, the echoes of the fairy tales and legends of the valley heard as a child, and forms that recall the landscape, such as the vertical thrust of the mountain peaks.
