Wholly sustainable object: natural paper, inks and adhesives
Built around water, air, fire, earth and a fifth element, the human factor
A book that gathers a selection of two hundred pictures by named authors on the theme of the environmental crisis under way, in order to stir a conscious involvement with the wellbeing of the planet. It is a new, collective and gripping project, born of the vision of the evolutionist and science writer Telmo Pievani, long attentive to the environment of the future, of a collaboration with the University of Padua, and of the impassioned discussions of a group of young people who watch the world and mean to choose, for themselves and for this planet, the future they will live in. It is original in its making too: a wholly sustainable object, with entirely natural paper, inks and adhesives. Structured around the four elements of our life — water, air, fire and earth — it claims a fifth, the imponderable human factor, with its cognitive powers and its capacity to produce excesses harmful to nature but also, preciously, to generate solutions. A group of students from different degree courses chose and commented on the images, indicating the problems and at the same time glimpsing a way out.
