Passing Time is the second monograph devoted to the work of Sage Sohier by Nazraeli Press, and seeks to build a portrait of contemporary America by photographing people in their own surroundings. During the isolation of the pandemic the author had the chance to go back through her archive of negatives and contact sheets from the 1980s and found a number of pictures she had overlooked at the time; the volume sets them beside more recent work, in fifty-seven plates printed in rich duotone on Japanese art paper.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
