Leading civil rights attorneys commissioned this project after the artist traveled across the country photographing and interviewing individuals who were wrongfully convicted of heinous crimes of which they were innocent. The subjects are photographed at sites of particular significance to their illegitimate conviction: the scene of the crime, the scene of misidentification, the scene of arrest, or the scene of the alibi. The portraits are accompanied by commentary from the attorneys who worked to exonerate them.
