The book grew out of what Fernando Peres had been posting on Facebook about living alongside the creatures on his plot of land in Recife, the place he calls Lesbian Bar. In his own words it is just a trashy backyard in an odd part of Recife — Monteiro, almost Poço da Panela, on rua do Capibar — and the strangest thing is how deep inside the city it sits: one step and you are downtown. The census he gives runs to one human being, twenty-four cats, two dogs, two guinea pigs, two albino opossums, two rats, two tortoises, seven marmosets running loose, and any number of frogs and toads. Denise Gadelha chose it among the best photography books of 2015 in Zum, calling the little volume extremely intimate in its language as much as in the way it was printed.
