A tribute to the still-life tradition, moved into a contemporary dark forest. The pictures are made at night with whatever light is at hand, a torch, a reporter's flash, car headlights, the glow of a streetlamp, so that colours and shapes surface out of the dark a moment before they vanish again. The plants that usually serve as inert scenery for human activity are pushed to the centre and given the lead in a dreamlike thriller: a tangle of clues, signals and undecipherable languages, evidence of an activity that is intriguing and relentless and not ours.
