Boundaries are back in the conversation, and in the strictest geographical sense: invisible imaginary lines that, once crossed, separate two states, two conditions whose difference is sometimes obvious and sometimes imperceptible. Scarano lets the words slide into one another, geographical limit and limit of behaviour, margin and marginalisation, block, uncertainty, edge, barrier, delimitation, separation, and reads the landscape through them, alongside the people in it. The outcome, in his own words, is a noir one.
