Text by Amal Alhaag
Eyongakpa, born in Cameroon in 1981, works by repetition and transformation, in a way that is close to ritual. He brings together basic analogue mechanics, sculpture, video, sound, scribbling, text and photography, and does it in a fashion that blurs where one medium ends and the next begins, and blurs too the line between what is real and what is illusion. Amal Alhaag describes the result as a puzzle covering rites, coded languages and mundane routines, held together as parallel truths. The reader is left to follow the traces and lose track of time.
