"Sometimes experiences can transport you to a timeless state of consciousness, where an awareness of clock-time recedes and a feeling of living in the moment takes hold. Such was the night of the Goldie Timeless rave in New York, which I photographed on 17 November 1995. For a photographer time is always something to be calculated and measured; with the click of the shutter a moment of someone's lived experience is imprinted within a fraction of a second. At the rave, the crowd's euphoric energy and the invisible fragments of beats and rhythms, expressed through body movement and facial expression, were caught and rendered timeless." Drum and bass was then still a new form of music.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
