For more than thirty years the artist has been photographing stones, rocky landscapes and trees, which he pairs in double pictures. He portrays the astounding harmony between the animate and the inanimate, between natural and designed appearances: an earlier publication set a cathedral's forest of figures and pinnacles beside the sandstone columns of a canyon, and this work proceeds in the same way.
