The artist's first major monograph explores the fundamental notions of home and belonging through illusion, desire and loss. The work draws on a variety of sources: apocryphal family lore, portraits of her community and of herself, and reimagined landscapes, with Minnesota and northern California standing in for Laos. The narratives are personal and grounded in tradition and in contemporary metaphor.
