An artist's book, assembled and bound by hand, in which Stankute works on motherhood through her own experience and that of other mothers. It is built as something to handle: the unique experiences of different women, at different times, open out playfully and intimately as you go through it. In her own words, the experience of motherhood is different for every woman and is made of many different experiences, and yet all mothers, whatever lives they are living, find the things they have in common.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
