French edition of a Handful of Dust

A speculative history of the last century and a visual journey through some of its least likely pictures. In 1922 a small French avant-garde review published a photograph of a glass plate covered in dust. The photographer was Man Ray, the glass was Duchamp's. The title was first View taken from an aeroplane, then Dust Breeding. It is abstract and it is realist; it is a work of art and it is a document, and Campany follows what dust has done to photography ever since.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
