An artist's book working through the heritage photographic holdings of Eugène Trutat, kept by the natural history museum in Toulouse. Trutat photographed glaciers; Élisée Reclus, writing in 1875, imagined that for the great-grandsons of our sons the scene would have changed, the glacier perhaps melted into a thin stream and the mountain itself gone. The book puts the nineteenth-century survey and that prediction against each other.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
