D'Agata's style is to travel around the world, delve deeply into the people behind the scenes who suffer from drugs, sex, violence, etc., and sometimes become the subject himself to depict them emotionally and politically. This book is a collection of works published on the occasion of an exhibition held at RAT HOLE GALLERY in 2007. Supervised by Osamu Wataya, edited by Nozomi Himeno (AKAAKA Publishing), designed by Hideki Nakajima.Published by a Tokyo gallery on the occasion of an exhibition, the volume gathers the artist's pictures of nights spent inside the situations he photographs rather than at a distance from them, with text in three languages.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
