A journey from Salento to Monte Rosa, through the places in Italy where the mother tongue is not Italian.
The contributors met the last speakers of Walser in the high valleys of Piedmont; the Occitans of the Turin and Cuneo areas, whose language is that of the old troubadours; they landed on the island of San Pietro, in the south of Sardinia, where Tabarchino is spoken; they went to Basilicata, into the lands of the Arbëreshë, descendants of the people who emigrated from Albania in the fifteenth century; and into the small villages of Puglia where Griko still survives.
