In 2022 the whole world seemed wrecked: global warming, an unjust north-south divide, an ongoing pandemic and a misanthropic and inhuman war in Europe. With these impressions in plain view the artist set up his own miniature system. The visual draft mimics and paraphrases popular astronomical imagery, which had been trending a great deal since the first pictures from a new space telescope hit the media. The work also questions the overall credibility of the medium and tries to address the difference between an emotional disposition to accept visual statements and the cognition of what is actually shown.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
