From December 6th to 14th, 1999, Günter Grass was in Stockholm to receive the Nobel Prize. His Swedish hosts had arranged an exciting daily program around this unique event: In addition to the official receptions, and of course the audience with the Swedish royal couple, the Royal Library, the National Library of Sweden, was visited, in whose archive rooms the original study of Nelly Sachs is set up deep underground. On other days there were visits to the German School, the Goethe Institute, the university and the international school that tries to integrate children from all over the world into Swedish society. The private highlight of the trip was certainly the day trip to Gripsholm Castle and the visit to the Tucholsky grave in Mariefred.
