The English company Dutton Ltd. Restoring historic Bugatti models in the third generation. From 1909 to 1963, the car manufacturer founded by Ettore Bugatti in Molsheim, Alsace, produced the best sports cars of its time. Ivan Dutton has dedicated himself to this legend: his twelve employees can produce every single part true to the original and build entire cars using old techniques. The photographer Koto Bolofo was fascinated by the Bugatti workshop in Buckinghamshire near London. There he gained impressions of the spirit of traditional craftsmanship that no longer exists in the automotive industry. The images in this large-format book tell of the work of car restorers, whose passion keeps an era of racing alive.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
