New edition of a great classic of photographic publishing, Magnum Magnum, which already achieved enormous success at the first edition (in 2007). It is a celebration of Magnum Photos, the legendary cooperative agency founded in 1947 by the photographers themselves or rather, as Henri Cartier-Bresson said, by a "group of adventurers who were driven by an ethic". Each photographer selected the six best and most significant images of another "agency colleague", commenting on his choice with a short text. There are the great masters of photography of the 20th century - Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, Eugene Smith, Eve Arnold, Marc Riboud, Werner Bischof, Martin Parr - and contemporaries, such as Olivia Arthur, Matt Black, Cristina de Middel, Susan Meiselas, Trent Parke, Alec Soth, Paolo Pellegrin, Donovan Wylie. The result is this book: a tribute to an extraordinary collective and an analysis, through the critical eye of photographers, of what makes a shot unforgettable. Finally, an archive of 533 highly significant images, accompanied by life anecdotes, fond memories and bits of history told by the protagonists themselves, the photographers of the Magnum Photos agency.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
