In Beauvais, this place of detention ceased to operate in December 2015. With its closure, small stories, banal, minor, which testify to the prison condition and different ways of experiencing it would disappear.

Andréa Eichenberger and Isabelle Marseille brought together photographs and words to give an image and tell how the inmates and prison staff faced this place, invented themselves there and tried to create mechanisms to make it bearable. Denis Dormoy worked on formatting the collection of lyrics.

“The Thousand Bricks” constitutes a final testimony to this confinement in the heart of the city.
