As part of an artistic residency offered by the city of Clermont-Ferrand, Martin Kollar sought to have the vision of someone who returns to the city where he grew up and searches for traces of his childhood.

“Nothing sentimental should be found in my observations and comparisons; quite the contrary since I grew up in another culture and even under another political regime. This series of photos is then the story of a city, its inhabitants and its surroundings. The photos are comparisons and observations of my experienced and long-forgotten impressions and of my encounters with people who may or may not resemble those I had already met.
