In June/July 1993 the Swiss artist Felix Stephan Huber and the American Philip Pocock travelled through Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania to the Black Sea for a project of the Venice Biennale. During the journey they continuously faxed diary entries, photos, collected pictures, drawings and texts to the Electronic Café in the casino container at the Biennale. The aim was to create a (nearly) live situation using partly very simple local communication technology — a portable computer with fax modem and a digital camera. Black Sea Diary shows, unedited and as a facsimile, the results of this work.
