It begins in the suburbs of Cairo and Zürich and ends in the Scottish Highlands. In between: glamorous skylines, religious monuments, banal hotel rooms, blooming meadows, kittens, children in Rio, a rice field in Bali, brass bands, catacombs, Disneyland, kitchen gardens, jungle, Stonehenge, Pompeii, high mountains and further pictures that signify a very particular world-view. A significant ground-plan of all later photographic and videographic picture-themes of Fischli and Weiss, it is a primary photographic research journey, a typological excursion along those — mostly “beautiful” — views and perspectives of the visible world.
