He himself writes about his working technique: “His tools are paper, felt-tip pen and Tipp-Ex — the drawings are made on the spot.” This seemingly terse sentence already reveals something essential about Ingo Giezendanner, alias GRRRR. GRRRR works with the simplest means — felt-tip, black-and-white — drawing in the open air and “from nature.” He also scans drawings and layers them many times over on the computer. After numerous self-published and internet publications and the book Seattle / San Francisco (Verlag Andreas Züst, 1999), for this project GRRRR has taken on the city in which he mostly lives and works.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
