1‚341 Projects for the Swiss Expo 2001: In 1997 the Swiss population was invited to hand in ideas and projects for the Swiss Expo 2001. This campaign turned out to be a great success. More than 3‚000 drafts and projects were presented until 1998. Unfortunately, only a small number of projects were implemented. EXPOMAT, on the other hand, provides a showcase for the whole range of projects, thereby virtually becoming the printed twin of the Expo. 1‚341 projects are described with text, pictures, essays on the subject and various interviews. EXPOMAT provides 670 pages of uncensored wishes and hopes for the Expo. It is a work of reference of Swiss showmanship and individual visions at the threshold to the new millennium.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
