Walter Pfeiffer's scrapbooks from 1969 to 1985 are a Wunderkammer of their own kind. Pfeiffer's Polaroids and photographs alternate with found objects — newspaper clippings, postcards, packaging, tickets — and short wordplay notes. Pfeiffer assembles all this into a large collage full of surprising connections and juxtapositions, at once a visual diary and the creative humus of his artistic work. His sharp eye for eros, zeitgeist and pop culture, his irreverent humour as well as his sense for the poetry of the everyday and banal come to the fore most sharply in his scrapbooks, offering an insight into Pfeiffer's quirky, playful universe and a document that captures the zeitgeist of the 1970s and 80s with ephemeral elegance.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
