In heute und danach the rich and varied music history of 1980s Switzerland is brought together for the first time and documented thematically. The music styles and musicians involved, the social changes, the art and youth scenes, urban developments around “youth culture,” technical achievements and alternative distribution forms provide manifold backgrounds to why the 1980s became the most formative piece of Swiss cultural history. In the 1980s the upheaval took place, initiated by parts of the youth themselves, that was to fundamentally change society; the term “youth culture” was defined and anchored. The book focuses on fifty selected key figures from the Swiss scene of the time, including Stephan Eicher, Vera Kaa, Kuno Lauener, Muda Mathis and Franz Treichler.
