October reproduces Christopher Isherwood's journal and Don Bachardy's portrait drawings for the month of October, 1979. Their subjects include Joan Didion, David Hockney, Malcolm McDowell and Gore Vidal. Mr. Bachardy's drawings are in the permanent collections of England's National Portrait Gallery and New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Mr. Isherwood is the author of Berlin Stories, A Single Man, A Meeting by the River, etc.
