During 1982 William Brice completed a series of brilliantly colored drawings on four by six inch notecards. Subsequently he mounted forty-eight of these drawings in a notebook in order that he might later refer to them for compositional detail in his large-scale paintings. Notations 1982 reproduces Brice's notebook in full color and to scale. The forty-eight drawings are reproduced just as the artist composed them in his original notebook. By working closely with the original drawings, this edition is able to recreate the sparkling color impact of the Brice notebook.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
