Matt Mahurin has turned from drawing to photography in his efforts to render a more sublime perception of his world. These photographs inhabit a place in which we are half-awake, half-dreamer. In their shadows something is suggested, but not clearly seen - perspective, time and scale fluctuate. from inside the dark walls of a Texas prison, to a shadowy dog rising out of the ocen surf, we are witness to a singular vision, collected in this book, the artist's first.
