What Masotti accomplishes with this series of photographs on the theme of the forest and nature is not just a simple leap, but rather a complete silent immersion in a different musicality, produced by natural elements that are never obvious and in some ways as new as they are ancestral. The music of Winterreise is written in nature and in the biting air of the mountains. Melodies that not everyone knows how to listen to - and that is why Masotti inverts the use of the senses, or rather fuses them together. Hearing becomes sight and vice versa. The forest forms a stage where stones, branches, leaves and snow are musicians in a theatre that opens before our eyes, and the sound that comes out of it is sublime.
