Atlas of the New World is a photographic project by Edoardo Delille and Giulia Piermartiri that explores the impact of climate change on our planet in a visionary way. Through an innovative technique, the photographers blend real landscapes with projected images showing the dramatic consequences of global warming in the not-too-distant future. Their journey began in 2019 and took them to different countries around the world, where they collected testimonies and stories from the inhabitants of the most vulnerable areas, from the Maldives to Mozambique, from California to China, creating photographs that intertwine faces, places and projections of future climate scenarios. From the melting of the Mont Blanc glaciers to the rise in sea levels in the Maldives, the images, combined with scientific data, compose a powerful and direct narrative, capable of raising awareness of the fate of the Earth. The project is accompanied by texts by the meteorologist and climatologist Giulio Betti, the researcher Elena Giacomelli and the neuroscientist Stefano Mancuso. Graphic design by Federico Barbon.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
