The issue investigates film advertisements published in trade magazines from the late 1970s through the early 1990s for movies that were never actually made — from David Cronenberg's Frankenstein and Rainer Werner Fassbinder's Cocaine to mysterious titles like SlayRide and Fetus® — pairing each ad with its bizarre backstory or evidence-based speculation.
