Here I am at the end of a long journey, doing what I first wanted to do and then renounced: writing in this book. Not that writing worries me, on the contrary. I live with the desire to write. I have already written and published some texts, mainly on artistic themes. But the fact of writing in the middle of my photographs has put me in front of the problem of the text/image relationship in artistic creation. There are some beautiful crossings in cinema, but it generally remains without substance. Poetry has created stimulating intermediate forms, certainly, but mostly under the sound aspect. In photography, the accompaniment of text seems to me artistically useless. The notion of a visual text shocks me. This is a media tool, or a motif. It's not a text. Plastic or visual works that use text raise fascinating questions about language, sign, communication. But the form of a text, which alone interests me, is not limited to its graphic aspect, it is not a visual experience. I write, I take photographs. But one without relation to the other. In short, all this to say that it has been impossible for me to produce a visual or illustrative text or even a textual text associated with the images. There is no need to tell you what it is about, because it is obvious and universal. Take these keywords: childhood, motherhood, home, growth, detachment. You will be the mother or you will be the child. DOR is taken from a photographic archive that I have been building since the birth of my children. Over the last fourteen years I have photographed my daily life. Over 40,000 images organised in 150 albums, one per month, document this everyday life.
