To make his works, Hannes Norberg (b. Worms, 1969; lives and works in Düsseldorf) constructs models designed for the camera’s eye out of basic materials: architectural maquettes and situations suggesting landscapes. Drawing, graphic art, and sculptural design alternate with digital technologies. Diverse interlocking shapes, colors, media, and meanings coalesce in a structured visual field. The photographs illustrate the visual synthesis of construction and representation in the contemplation of things in light. Divided into seven chapters, the monograph Feld und Fläche retraces the conceptual evolution of Hannes Norberg’s visual art from 2010 until 2025. Rounded out by draft sketches and earlier works, the book was designed by the artist and comes with personal annotations.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
