This is the natural history of the metamorphosis of the mamushkas: how they are born, grow, reproduce in various ways and then die. Starting from the image archive of her mother, Rosa, who kept a particular bond with the camera for twenty-six years, Carla Lucarella uses photography not only as a record but as raw material for a sustained conversation between deferred times and spaces. Through a mise en abyme that reaches three generations, the work organises a continuity that defies chronological closure and bets on the persistence of form. What remains is this volume: a body that contains other bodies, the material sediment of a life cycle.
