As La Dolce Vita (1960) prepares to celebrate its fiftieth birthday, this facsimile of the albums from the film shoot revisits a cinematic masterpiece. Close to 1,000 original photographs are gathered in five albums, some used for promotion, others illustrating reports and interviews, most never published. An essay by Sam Stourdzé and press iconography reveal Fellini’s sources of inspiration, such as Anita Ekberg’s nocturnal dip in the Trevi Fountain.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
