The book re-examines the sometimes murky, sometimes luminous but always unstable bond between the person who takes a photograph and the person captured in the act. What does the image reveal about the relation between the two bodies, a mutual gaze, a pact sealed by one’s appearance? Snapshots and staged shots, reportage, self-portraits, nudes and intimate scenes, collaborative exchanges between model and photographer are drawn from the collection of the Wilson Centre for Photography.
