Contributions by Urs Stahel and Stefan Gronert

Dunja Evers has developed a unique pictorial form that mediates between film, photography and painting. With her works she directs the gaze away from the documentary function of photography towards an autonomous pictorial-artistic design. Her fragile pictures are photographic paintings that cross all genre boundaries. At first they appear as almost monochrome colour plays. Beneath the colour lie shadowy signs produced filmically and photographically, which only gradually open up to the viewer. Stretched space, stretched time appears and vanishes again.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
