Like hardly any other German corporation, the Junkers works in Dessau, known above all for aircraft production and hot-water technology, stood in the 1920s for technical innovation and for collaboration with artists and intellectuals, among them many representatives of the Bauhaus, which had also been based in Dessau since 1926. The pictorial record of this productive heyday, which includes industrial photographs, aerial views, photomontages and advertising graphics, is today scattered across various places. On the occasion of Hugo Junkers’s 150th birthday, a picture archive is reconstructed here that remains among the most important testimonies of German industrial culture.
